The Loyalist were the minority of people that preferred the British rules. Loyalist were only the 1/5 of the colonist. Loyalist favored the law and order, they preferred being govern by a king than by a patriot, Because patriots were very rude with the loyalist the patriots make many bad things to them like the tarring and feathering, also they shut down the loyalist news paper, if they criticize what a patriot said they will be punished. Loyalist think that patriots were worst than British. The stereotype of the loyalist was that they were rich people that will sell the colonist to gain a position in the government. But this were only few loyalist. The other loyalists were normal people. The slave people favored the loyalist.
